Most of our year 6 learners have volunteered to become a road patroller for our school. This is so we can operate the Kea Crossing across Helianthus Avenue.  In the last week of term 1, they were all trained by the NZ Police. This ensured that they were able to carry out the duties of being a member of the School Traffic Safety team.  The Police officer discussed the qualities that were needed to be a great road patroller. They included:

  • being responsible
  • being reliable
  • being sensible
  • being flexibleScreen Shot 2015-06-07 at 6.21.42 pm

These are all qualities that are encouraged at our school.  All the learners passed their training and are now qualified to operate a road patrol under adult supervision – this will be a member of our staff.  School traffic safety teams have an important role in keeping our children safe on the roads.
