Code of Educators at Ormiston Primary

Pedagogical basis should be adaptability – not teaching.

Potential of the learner should be the basis of teaching.

Learners should have opportunities to learn from learners.

Educators will work as a team.

Diversity will be exploited as a resource.

Systematic collective reflection will form the basis for shared practise.

Model and enact the four vision principles.

What is a Learning Coach?

  • A tutor, an expert, a mentor, a teacher

The main roles of a Learning Coach

  • Overall designer of the learning process, of guiding and directing the learners, of supporting the learning through learning talks with individuals, small and large groups. At the same time, ensure learners acquire knowledge bases and essential concepts.
  • The Learning Coach should be regarded as responsible for collaboratively ‘engineering’ a learning environment, both in its design and its operation.
  • In essence, Learning Coaches design, mentor, stimulate, provoke, engage, diagnose, educate and teach.

All role descriptions will be personalised, transparent and available to all.
