Our Neighbourhood

Together, our community will work towards growing and nurturing our young people. We have many #oresome people in our community- you!

We believe there are four vital groups who will contribute to the  success of our school:

  • Learners
  • Whanau
  • Educators
  • Our community.

We welcome a variety of different cultures and ethnicities. We view this as a taonga (a treasure) and it represents the many tribes of the world gathered here at OrmPS. The four koru within the circle of our logo symbolise the four winds, Nga Hau E Wha.

We believe in the educating the whole person at Ormiston Primary. Hauora is a Māori philosophy of health unique to New Zealand, which comprises taha tinana (physical), taha hinengaro (emotional), taha whanau (social), and taha wairua (spiritual). These four elements help develop the overall well-being of our learners.

We will be showcasing some of these special members of our community here.  Our learners will interview our community comrades and showcase their stories here in a variety of ways.
