Learning Habitat 6

O is for #Oresome in LH6.  While these educators may be physically next door at OJC for most of the day, they are very much a part of our OrmPS family.

These educators work collaboratively with LH5 educators, OJC educators and others too.  Leading the learning- ka pai!

Meet our “#Oresome” LH6 Team

Vanessa BranborLearning Coach - LH6
Megan Croll
Megan CrollLearning Coach - LH6
Megan joined the Ormiston team this year to be a Learning Coach in LH2. She completed a Bachelor of Education from Auckland University in 2005. Before that, Megan travelled extensively and had several positions within the world of sales and design. She is currently in the final stages of completing The Mind Lab’s Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice (Digital and Collaborative Learning).

Prior to joining Ormiston Primary School, Megan worked at Beachlands School for ten years. During this time, she taught in a range of classrooms from Year 2-8. Megan was also responsible for the school’s library system and resources. Her interest in digital technology led to an additional role as eLearning Leader where she supported teaching staff and helped with the implementation of GAFE, iPads, Chromebooks and BYOD.

When not working or studying, Megan enjoys spending time with her family, reading, music, photography, walking and sailing on the beautiful waters of our Hauraki Gulf.

Adele Hickey
Adele HickeyLearning Coach - LH6
Adele graduated from the University of Auckland in 1999. Initially she taught at Intermediate level and has since taught at most year levels. This has been in a variety of different Auckland and United Kingdom learning environments. She completed her reading recovery training in 2007 and a Home Tutor of ESOL Certificate in 2014.

Adele appreciates the cultural and linguistic diversity at OrmPS and looks forward to working alongside learners encouraging them to expand and develop their capabilities. She looks forward to sharing the learning journey and celebrating the challenges and successes of all learners. She is currently part of the LH3 team and is loving it!

With three primary aged children she enjoys family time at the beach, reading and exploring the outdoors.

Claudine Love
Claudine LoveLearning Coach - LH6
Claudine feels privileged to become one of the newest members of the OrmPS family, as well as a new resident of New Zealand!

In 2010, Claudine started her teaching career in England after graduating from the University of Lancaster with a BSc (Honours) in Psychology, and a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Manchester. She cannot wait to share her love of teaching with Ormiston’s learners, and the pedagogical skills she acquired from the UK with fellow staff members. On the other hand, she is even more excited to further her professional development by working inside such an exciting, collaborative learning environment.

With a strong passion for literacy, Claudine believes that igniting a love of books and reading in Ormiston’s wonderful pupils is key to creating a life-long learner. She hopes to use her curriculum strengths in literacy, the arts and digital technologies to make a positive impact within LH6 by designing a wide range of fun, contextualised and engaging learning experiences for all abilities.

After spending a couple of months travelling the North and South Island with her siblings, Claudine is thrilled at the thought of settling down and experiencing life in New Zealand. She looks forward to continuing her hobbies of SUPing, surfing, hiking and running within this beautiful country.

Lisa Pearson
Lisa PearsonLearning Coach - LH6
Lisa is excited to join the Ormiston team this year and is one of the new learning Coaches in LH3. She originally has a Science Degree but in 2009 decided to follow her passion for teaching, and completed her Graduate Diploma in Education. Since then Lisa has taught a range of year levels, been a team leader, and helped with curriculum development.

Lisa enjoys creating an environment where learners are encouraged to be independent and manage their own learning. She is dedicated to working with parents and the community to make learning accessible for all. She is also our Maths Learning Leader.

During her free time Lisa enjoys running half marathons, up-cycling recycled furniture, and cooking up a storm! She has three children and recently celebrated the marriage of her oldest child in Fiji (while soaking up the sun).

Lisa loves seeing children grow into their potential and looks forward to working with you and your families in the years ahead.
