A group of educators, Board members and OrmPS learners went to OJC on February 7th for the official powhiri to open Ormiston Junior College and welcome all of their learners. Our group was represented by Tim Botting from Ormiston Senior College and Zaelene Maxwell-Butler from the Ngai Tai iwi (Umpuia Marae) who both spoke eloquently on our behalf to welcome the OJC team of educators and learners.
We all sang the Te Aroha and E Toru Nga Mea waiata as part of the process while Luke Sumich, the Leader of Learning at OJC was welcomed to our side with his family. It is super exciting to have the school open next door especially since our Year 5-6 learners are living in the Marama hub (because we are soo full).
Welcome to our Ormiston whanau!
