The week of May 4th-May 8th is the New Zealand Sign Language week and our school celebrated and shared with the theme: Connect – Celebrate – Communicate. See the presentation here for more details. Our deaf learners were exceptional, really shining as they lead the morning huis and both entertained us and helped us learn more about NZSL and being deaf. There was also an art competition: butterflies and many learners participated in this. We are now having a NZSL sign of the day and we have also been learning our waiata in NZSL as well as the national anthem. We are so fortunate to have the KDEC team and the deaf learners as active participants in our daily learning.
