We were fortunate to have our eight lovely learning coaches for 3 days of #oresome induction in November. This was really important relationship building time and we also used our time together to:

  • begin to craft our school culture,
  • debate habits vs requirements,
  • navigate our way through our Learning Model,
  • collaborate and draft our role descriptions
  • devour some digital technologies and
  • discuss curriculum, pedagogy and resources.
OrmPS Learning Coach Induction -Nov 2014 on PhotoPeach

We began the first day with our version of the Amazing Race: The #Oresome Race which saw our 3 teams of Learning Coaches embody our vision principles:

  • I am connected
  • I am curious
  • I am collaborative
  • I am capable

in a variety of challenging and whimsical challenges traversing our community with Pit Stops, Detours and Road Blocks at:

  • Ormiston Senior College
  • Ormiston Primary School
  • Pak n Save Botany
  • Sancta Maria Catholic Primary School
  • KDEC- Deaf Provision at Ormiston Senior College
  • Fo Guang Shan Temple
  • MIT’s restaurant “Dine”

Following lunch, the lovely Anna from Office Max came to help us get creative with our school logo utilising a variety of media in an active arty afternoon!

We used the following two days to:

  • build our school culture,
  • grow relationships and
  • co-construct meaning around our vision, vision principles and ILE (Big Picture), values
  • learn to use our MacBooks and GAFE

with opportunities for socialising and a chance to mix and mingle with our Establishment Board of Trustees. What a great week!
